At its heart is a garden with a sun terrace, barbecue area and picnic spots, backed by a restaurant and bar serving local, Vietnamese and Asian dishes, a coffee house and a shared kitchen. A spa and wellness centre adds massages, foot baths and beauty treatments, and the lodge fills its days with cooking classes, hiking, cycling, bike tours and fishing. Practical touches run from free private parking and an airport shuttle to a 24-hour front desk, tour desk, luggage storage, laundry, currency exchange and daily housekeeping, so everything is close at hand.
Sapaxa Spring Garden Ecolodge sits in Ta Phin village, a quiet mountain hamlet about 4 to 5 km northeast of Sa Pa town in Lao Cai province, roughly 315 km northwest of Hanoi. Most travellers reach Sa Pa from Hanoi by sleeper bus or limousine van, a scenic run of about five to six hours along the Noi Bai–Lao Cai expressway. If you prefer the train, overnight services from Hanoi reach Lao Cai station in around eight hours, after which it is a 35 km, hour-long transfer up the mountain road to Sa Pa; the lodge can arrange a shuttle or private car for the final stretch. Sa Pa itself has no airport, so the nearest arrival points are Hanoi's Noi Bai. Once here, the village lanes are steep, so a taxi, Grab or the lodge's own transfers are the easiest way to reach the centre and trailheads.
Ta Phin is one of the classic trekking villages around Sa Pa, home to Red Dao and Black H'mong communities known for their indigo textiles and herbal baths, with Ta Phin Cave and terraced fields a short walk from your door. Sa Pa town, about 4 to 5 km away, is the hub for the region: from here you can ride the cable car up Fansipan, Indochina's highest peak, wander Sa Pa Lake and the market, or climb Ham Rong Mountain for valley views. Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) lies roughly 7 km on the road to Lai Chau, while the rice terraces of Muong Hoa Valley and villages such as Cat Cat and Ta Van make for memorable day walks. The terraces are at their greenest from June to September and turn golden at harvest in September and October; winter can be cold and misty, so pack warm layers.
